Japanese Tea Garden/Stow Lake/Strawberry Hill
Neighborhood: Golden Gate Park
Our free (donations welcome!), regularly scheduled tours are open to the public
but NOT open to parties of 8 or more.
If you plan to bring 8 or more walkers to a regular tour,

We'll start with a tour of the Japanese Tea Garden, then climb up to Stow Lake. We'll explore San Francisco's second highest sand dune, a place known as "the island," even before it was surrounded by water. See a waterfall funded by a railroad tycoon and a nesting tree for California's largest water bird. We'll cross the Roman Bridge and hike up the Carriage Path to the top of Strawberry Hill, the site of the Sweeny Observatory and then descend down Huntington Falls to the Taipei Pavilion. This tour may be abbreviated, at the discretion of the guide, due to weather.
