Description:

En 1849 la ruée vers l'or en la Californie a créé une grande sensation en France, surtout à cause des compagnies de mines d'or qui promettaient l'opportunité de devenir riche comme Midas. L'or a attiré des milliers de français dans les années 1849-1853. Dès le début, ils ont donné à San Francisco un air parisien, civilisé et sophistiqué, et San Francisco est devenue le Paris du Pacifique, une ville qui est apparue brusquement de la boue de Yerba Buena Cove. Le tour finit au coin de Bush et Grant.
