Watch world-class yacht racing while discovering San Francisco’s maritime past.
For one special tour only, Maritime San Francisco takes place during the Rolex Big Boat Series, one of the major regattas of the year. The tour is on Friday, September 18th at 11:00 AM, which should be prime time on Day 2. Everyone will be dialed in and fighting for position.
We will walk from Crissy Field to the Golden Gate Yacht Club, with front-row views of the starting area as the fleet battles wind, tide, and one another. Along the way, you will hear the stories that made this one of the world’s great harbors: the Gold Rush, the waterfront, the fishing fleet, military/safety on the Bay, the America’s Cup, and how San Francisco became one of the premier sailing venues anywhere.
You do not need to know anything about sailing. We will explain what you are seeing, why the boats maneuver the way they do, and how strategy, currents, and wind decide races long before anyone crosses the finish line.
Whether you love history, photography, engineering, or simply being on the waterfront, this is a chance to experience San Francisco at its most spectacular.
Two hours. One unforgettable shoreline. Hundreds of racing sails on the Bay.
