Thank you for your inquiry about a school tour with SF City Guides. We offer some of our most popular tours for school students and other small groups from fourth grade through high school: Chinatown, Gold Rush City, 1906 Earthquake and Fire, and Golden Gate Bridge.
All school tours are about 1 hour and content is adjusted for younger audiences.
- The cost is $5 per child and chaperones are free.
- Payment should be received at least two weeks before the tour is given, and can be paid by credit card or check sent to our office.
- You must provide one adult for every eight students, with a minimum of two adults for small groups of eight or fewer.
- We try to keep a ratio of 15 students per guide to ensure a good experience for both.
Once we receive your City Guides Booking Information,we will try to accommodate your preferences. You will be notified within 10 business days from the date of your initial emailed tour request as to whether City Guides can fulfill your request.
All City Guides are volunteers; therefore there is a small chance that we will not be able to fulfill your request, even after an exhaustive search for guides. As soon as we have confirmed a guide(s), we will email you a confirmation.

City Guides Cancellation Policy:
- If in an emergency a guide cannot do the tour, the requestor will be contacted and the tour can be rescheduled or the payment will be refunded.
- If there is heavy rain or other unforeseen events, the guide will call the requestor and reschedule or the payment will be refunded.
- If the guide is willing to do the tour and the requestor is not, the deposit is forfeited.
