City Guides walking tours have been a favorite Bay Area activity for over 42 years. We love our walkers, especially our local neighbors who share our love of San Francisco and its rich history.
When COVID-19 began in March, as a safety measure, we put our walks on hiatus – but like most of our Bay Area neighbors, we’re looking to get out of the house, get some exercise, and participate in safe, outdoor activities. So City Guides is excited to be able to begin a gradual, safe re-opening of select walks this month.
We will be offering a selection of tours that are the most popular favorites for Bay Area locals. We’ve also specially modified our tour protocols with health and safety in mind. So whether you live in San Francisco, across the Bay, down the Peninsula or anywhere else in the Bay Area, we invite you back to experience City Guides as only a local could. (Of course, our walks are open to all, so if you’re visiting, you’re welcome to register and come along with us!)
Here’s what you need to know about safety, including pre-registration requirements:
- We take health and safety seriously in this era of COVID-19. To ensure the health of both walkers and guides, our walks will follow a strict no-contact policy. In order to maintain six-foot social distancing, attendance will be limited.
- Walkers must register in advance on our website. No walk-ups will be allowed.
- In keeping with public health guidelines from the City of San Francisco and the state of California, proper face coverings will be required. You must bring your own; we are unable to provide them, and you will not be allowed on the tour without one.
- Our walks are free, but we are supported almost entirely by walker donations. To maintain our no-contact policy, guides will not accept donations at the conclusion of our walks as we have in the past. Instead, you will be given the opportunity when you register to make a suggested $15 per person donation online. We hope that you’ll consider making that donation so we can keep walking!
