Discover fascinating, but seldom-visited features in the Park by hiking from the Music Concourse around Stow Lake and to the observatory ruins atop the second highest sand dune in San Francisco. Tour the Prayer Book Cross commemorating a little-known 16th century event and Lloyd Lake’s Portals of the Past, a haunting reminder of the tragedy of 1906.

Note: This walk is a serious hike of 3 miles with some steps, sand and uneven terrain. It involves elevation gain on unpaved paths and trails of several hundred feet of elevation gain. Good sturdy walking/hiking shoes with good tread are advised. Rain might make some trails muddy and impassable and, if heavy, may cancel.
This tour ends at the Japanese Tea Garden.
